One end of a ribbon cable is attached to a standard floppy disk drive. The
other end is attached to the motherboatrd. There is an unused connecter in
about the middle of the cable. What can I attach to the unused connector?

I wonder how your question relates to Windows (seeing
that you're posting in a Windows group) but the boys in
the hardware newsgroup will probably tell you that you
can attach a second floppy disk drive to the second connector.

Not a Windows XP question, and so not appropraite here. But while I'm
telling you that, I'll answer the question: it's for a second floppy drive.
