I'm working on some minor XP SP2 problems, and I ran HijackThis.

I have the log file.

Is it permissible/appropriate to post that log file in a message, and ask
for feedback on anything that looks undesirable/bad in the log?

As David pointed out, this is not a forum for HJT logs. Thanks for asking
first before posting. Please post it to one of the specialty forums.

By gentlemen's agreement, we do not interpret HijackThis logs in the public
newsgroups, Ron.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

analysis, not here.**

Lol..I figured this was coming. Besides, isn't the term "gentleman's
agreement" an oxymoron in this newsgroup?

Thanks to all of you for your replies.

I will follow up on the links you have offered.

Hi PA Bear,

Thanks for your reply.

I've been using the Tek Tips forum for quite a while, and I believe that
I've seen your name there, and you have replied to various of my
posts/threads in the past.

Unfortunately, a strange situation has occurred several times in the past on
the Tek Tips forum, and this situation suddenly appeared again. When I go to
log in, I got an error message that there was something wrong/amiss with my
account registration, and my log in was refused. As with the previous time
that this occurred a year or so ago, I sent off a message using the
applicable suggested form, asking what the problem was. I never get a reply.
To the best of my knowledge, all of my posts were proper, polite, and met
the conditions for posting.

When this happened last time, I finally reregistered under a different
e-mail address, and all was well for about a year.

In that forum I presently have a thread that I started re error messages,
and I was asked to post a HiJackThis log, which I created, and posted.
Strangely, I did not get any e-mail advice that there were any replies to
this, and when I attempted to log in next, I got the message that there was
a problem with my account. And when I looked at my thread, my last post with
the log was not there. Furthermore, my messages to them re my loss of being
unable to log in have not been replied to.

Do you have any idea what may be going on?

I consider the Tek Tips forums to be very good, but I'm at a loss to
understand what happened, and since I don't get replies to my queries, on
their form, I cannot obviously correct anything which they consider
"improper".

Thanks for any help you can offer.

The ladies never seem to agree on anything, so we let 'em do as they want
(as usual). <w>

I've no idea what may be wrong with your account or Tek Tips management,
Ron. Sorry. (Personally, I'd take my business elsewhere.)

Thanks for the suggestion. The one thing I must have in this world is the
ability to communicate with any person/organization that I have any kind of
relationship with. I thought thatTek Tips was a good forum, but since I've
not been able to ever get a reply to an e-mail from them, they're history
with me now.

Do you have any suggestions for some other sites, which offer good forums,
for XP et al, other of course than this MS forum? :-)

Ron Hirsch
