Reverse the Sign in a range of cells?

I have a spreadsheet that is generated from an accounting program. It
generates the debits as positive numbers and the credits as negative numbers.
Is there a way to highlight a group of cells and reverse the sign on that
group or range?

Hi Joe

just a thought, if you type -1 in an unused cell somewhere and copied it
then selected your numbers and choose edit / paste special - multiply
all your - should become + and vice versa

Hope this helps
Cheers

Hi
- put '-1' in an empty cell and copy this cell
- select your data
- goto 'Edit - Paste Special' and choose 'Multiply'

Probably a better way but one way...enter "-1" in an empty
cell....you'll need helper columns, one for each column.

Assume your data is in Column A, Column B is helper column
and "-1" is entered in cell F1..enter "=A1*$F$1" w/o
quotes..then drag this down as far as required.

To make Column B non-volatile, copy and paste
special/value it back on itself. Then you may delete
Column A

Hi Buckeye,
In addition to what Julie and Frank mentioned you might
also consider downloading a wonderful free addin from
Bastien Mensink called ASAP Utilities from his website at
http://www.asap-utilities.com/
It has a myriad of very useful userdefined functions that
will convert a range of negative to positive, and vice
versa, all to negative, all to positive, etc. and many
many more. Check it out
