hi all...i bought a new pc, put my old one under our bed...now, i would like
to gain access to my old pc, but forgot the windows logon password...i tried
to reinstall windows, but couldn't find my coa...so now i am stuck with a pc
that only boots into setup, and no way of getting at the files ...i took the
hard drive out and installed it in my new pc to gain access to some files i
needed...i would like to retrieve the serial number from my old pc to
reinstall, but don't know where to look...any keyfinder i have tried will
only work for the running enviroment...can i retrieve the serial while it is
in my new pc as a secondary drive?...or can i somehow stop or reverse the
setup proccess when the drive is in the old pc?...it's a validated copy of
xp, so i would hate to loose it...if anyone has any ideas...i would be very
happy to hear them...thanks guys...cheers :)

Hello

You may be interested to know about software such as "Belarc Advisor" which
will show you the Product ID of any software you have installed on the
computer.

This is not a Microsoft Product but may prove usefull in attempting to
retreive your lost Product ID.

Sincerely,

Pull the old hard drive. Install it as a slave in another PC and
recover the data.

Or you can go to your local PC store and buy a USB enclosure, and
install the old hard drive in it.
