I am trying to retrieve emails that i lost when i reinstalled window
xp.
The installation took my laptop back to the factory condition, and so
assume that the hard drive was deleted , therefore losing my emails.
Can anybody advise whether it is still possible to access lost email
that may still be hidden in the hard drive?
Grateful for any help.
thanks

Since your hard drive was reimaged - brought back to factory condition -
it might be possible to find over-written data using specialized data
recovery software. I use Ontrack's Easy Recovery Pro, but that is quite
expensive. You might check with a local computer repair shop (not a
BestBuy or CompUSA type of store) to see if they have something similar
and can try to get your data. Otherwise, you can call a professional
data recovery firm such as DriveSavers (www.drivesavers.com).
DriveSavers' services are not inexpensive, but only you can determine
the value of your data. In any case, if you want to try and retrieve
data off the laptop, do nothing more on it.
