Retrieving backed up .pst files

I have backed up .pst files to a CD. However, when I
try to open the file on the CD, I get an access denied
message.

Is this normal?

Yes. CDs are read only. Outlook requires read/write access. Copy the file
to the hard drive, remove the read-only check mark and use File->Open in
Outlook to open the file.
