Retreving A Saved in a lost place File

I have Vista and I opened a word file that I had opened with Windows Mail,
edited, saved and closed but don't know where it saved or how to retrieve it.
Thanks so much if you can help me retrieve this file.

The file is probably still attached to the email where you originally opened
it. Anytime you open a file from within an email, you need to specifically
perform a 'save as' to a location on your hard drive. If you subsequently
deleted that email, the file is probably gone.
