retreiving mail

I just purchased a new computer with Vista on it as my old computer crashed.
Lucky for me, the computer had 2 hard drives and only 1 crashed. I have
Windows Mail set up and is working properly. On the old computer, I had
used Outlook Express and then Outlook. Although I have located files on
the old hard drive, I have been unable to import the messages. Can someone
offer some help as to how I can do this? Also, just to be sure, where are
the "outlook" and "outlook express" messages located? Thanks!

See http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wm for how to import from OE.

For Outlook, copy the PST file from the old Outlook and install Outlook 2003
or higher on Vista. Set Outlook to use the old PST file and then WinMail
can import from Outlook.

You usually need to have your messages to be imported on the actual main
hard drive you are using - if they are on something else, they probably
won't import. Try just copying them into Documents or something, then
importing them.
