Resuming from hibernation

After updating my motherboard bios and drivers the hibernation function will
hang up just before resuming. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as
to how to fix this. I am running XP pro.

Restore that MoBo bios to the original one first - You did back it up before
you flashed it right? (if you didn't try to download it)

Hi CB,

Either the BIOS flash or one of the drivers is not compatible with the
hibernate function. Start rolling back the upated drivers (properties of the
device in device manager on the hardware tab of system properties) until you
recover the function. If they all get rolled back and it still doesn't work,
then see if you can reflash the BIOS back to the older instruction set.

For the rest of us... How do you back up your BIOS?

It depends on the motherboard of course - The bios flash utils differ from
manufacturer to manufacturer. In my case, I'm using an Asus. The have a
utility called "aflash.exe". Simply create a boot DOS floppy and copy
aflash, and the new BIOS file. Reboot through the floppy and run aflash.
There you have options to back up your current BIOS or flash the BIOS to
another version etc.
