Resultant set of permissions on files?

Does anyone know of a way to analyze the actual permission settings on a
group of files or directories? I'm familiar with the resultant set of
policies tool that shows the effective policy settings, but to my knowledge
that does not address file permissions. Is there a similar tool that will
look at what a given user's permissions settings are, taking into account
both individual and group settings?
Thanks,
Joe

In Windows XP and 2003 yes. It is called effective permissions. Right click
the file or folder which you are interested in checking and go to Properties,
Security. Click the advanced button and then the Effective Permissions tab.
Enter the user or group you wish to check for and it will show you their
effective permissions on the file/folder.
