resubscribe to NOD32?

L

OK - so my subscription to NOD32 ran out on August 9th. To
my knowledge I got no notification by email. But more
importantly, I got no notification from NOD telling that
it's been unable to update since 8/10!

Is this normal or do I have something set wrong?

And furthermore.....I can't find how to resubscribe so that
I can least bring my signatures up to date now.

As you can tell from the tone of this post, I'm a little
disturbed. I should be able to rely on an AV to make a
visible fuss if it is unable to update for three days
because my subscription ran out.

Does anyone know how to fix this asap?

TIA

ESET doesn't send out a notification. They assume it's your
responsibility to know when your subscription runs out.
And furthermore.....I can't find how to resubscribe so that I can least
bring my signatures up to date now.

Go to their web-site. One of the options you'll get from their on-line
store is to resubscribe. All you have to do is supply your email address
you used when you subscribed.

Thanks - I just did that. Now let's see if I remembered
correctly about which email address I used!

Eset should at least give you the courtesy of making it
terribly clear that you should keep track of expirations
etc. when you first purchase the software. I think most of
us expect some notification other than our "happening" to
notice that there haven't been any updates.

Well, maybe. I'm no authority here. I always assume that if I'm not
watchin' what I need to do, no one else is going to do it for me.

OK - help again please.

I found the site, I renewed. I just got an email giving me
a link to download the "latest commercial version for your
operating system". They also provided a new username and
password.

Now - do I just put in the new username and password into my
existing program, do I download the "latest commercial
version" and install it OVER my existing program
installation or do I disconnect from the net, uninstall and
reinstall?

They sure are making this complicated......and thanks for
your help.

I got a notification as NOD32 was about to expire a couple of months
ago. As a matter of fact, it notified twice. The first notification I
ignored and then I forgot about it. The second time NOD32 notified about
subscription lapse, I took notice and then did the online renewal.

www.nod32.com does have a purchase link, which I used to renew NOD32 at
a lower price, as one time I did completely ignore the messages and the
subscription lapsed. I didn't wait long after it expired to renew it.

I did take a quick look in the NOD32 setup to see if I have some kind of
notification enabled. I don't.

You'll have to use them to make the download. I suggest you do a copy
and paste from the email.

You install on line, the install holds all of the previous setting of
NOD32, you take the user-id and psw a copy & paste operation and paste
them into the user-id & psw boxes on the Update Setup screen.
They sure are making this complicated......and thanks for your help.

How? A 2 year old can do it.

Good. That's what you should expect to get.

You can. What version of NOD are you currently running?

version 2.50.25 is what I'm running.

The download seems to be for 2.51.26

There is very little difference between the two. Choice is yours. If you
do decide to d/l the latest version, uninstall the previous version,
first. Personally, for a home user, I wouldn't bother.

OK - done!

I'll burn the newer version to a disk so I have it should I
need to reinstall but meanwhile, I just put in the new
username and password and that was it. I guess my real
annoyance was that I was in no way prepared to know I needed
to do this - now that I know - no big deal in the future.

Well I was notified when my subscription was due to run out and I think it
was about a month before hand. I just followed the links in the email to
do all the renewing online and everything was very straight forward even
for me <g>

I do not understand why you do not have version 2.51.26.
I installed my copy of NOD32 almost a year ago.
And I use the "automatic" update of "program components".
At this moment I have (NOD32 System Tools / Information):

Virus signature database version: 1.1705 (20060814)
Dated: maandag 14 augustus 2006
Virus signature database build: 7836

Advanced heuristics module version: 1.035 (20060810)
Advanced heuristics module build: 1120
Internet filter version: 1.002 (20040708)
Internet filter build: 1013
Archive support module version: 1.048 (20060714)
Archive support module build version: 1173

Information about installed components
NOD32 For Windows 95/98/ME - Base
Version: 2.51.26
NOD32 for Windows 95/98/ME - Standard component
Version: 2.51.26
NOD32 For Windows 95/98/ME - Internet support
Version: 2.51.26

Perhaps you can have a look at:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=37509
and then page 3, page #61, chapter: "UPDATE".

If properly installed NOD32 takes care of program updates.
So there should be no need for you
to download and install a "newer" version.

Thanks - I just changed my setting to automatic update but I
may have to do it manually if it doesn't offer it within a
few days - or....I can just wait until there's another one
and it does it automatically.

I'll keep an eye on this.
