Restrictions

I had a problem with something that kept changing my
homepage. I downloaded ad-aware and spybot S&D and ran
both individually to no avail to rid my prob. While
running spybot it asked me if I would like to keep anyone
from changing my homepage and I pushed the yes button.
Little did I know, it meant me too. Now when I go to
homepage, tools, internet options, I get a message in a
box that says Restrictions, this operation has been
cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.
Please contact your system administrator. In between
spybot and trying to change my homepage I downloaded cw
shredder and ran it. That took care of my "virus" but
because I pushed the yes button on spybot, I still can't
use Tools on ie. Any ideas. thank you

Yeah, get rid of IE! (I probably shouldn't be saying this
on a microsoft site, but....)
Try Mozilla's browser (or their Firefox browser's cool too)
I had a problem with IE and the home page getting set to
some stupid value last week, and I just said enough already! :)
Good luck.

n.b. if you really want to keep IE, try downloading the
newest update and just re-install it- that may fix your problem

Go back into spybot and in the immunize section uncheck the option you
turned on. You will then be able to access the internet options for IE.

Hi Dan,

You will need to clean your system using one or more of these:

Ad-Aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot
http://tinyurl.com/btf8

CWShredder (Line 313)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Hijack This
http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

Free Online Virus Scan
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Once done and you still have issues: run the unlock from here on line 63,
then run the tool on the right hand side.
