Hi,

Is there a way to control the way DHCP hands out ip addresses on a network?. Is it possible to have DHCP check in Active Directory to see if the computer that is requesting an address is listed in AD?. Im looking for ways to restrict who can obtain an ip address. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Sul

You would have to configure the scope with nothing but address reservations that maps
mac addresses to ip address which is only practical in the smallest networks. Even
so, that does not exclude access to someone who knows network ip configuration and
uses static ip info to access network. Other solutions to consider are switches that
can filter by mac address or using ipsec policy to control access to network
resources. Ipsec requires W2K, XP Pro, or W2K3. --- Steve
