"restricted" account already exists in XP?

On creating a local user account = "restricted" on Windows XP I get "Local
Users and Groups: The following error occurred while attempting to create the
user restricted on computer blahetc: The account already exists"
So, I didn't create it. Can anybody tell me where this account originated,
or anything about it?

I tried the same thing on my computer with the same results. The operating
system does prohibit the use of certain names for objects and that
apparently is one of them. The is a well known SID S-1-5-12 called
restricted code that could be the reason why. I would not worry that your
operating system is compromised because of this behavior and pick another
name for the user account. You will see the same action if you try to
create a group called authenticated users even though you do not see such a
group listed in local groups. --- Steve

SID: S-1-5-12
Name: Restricted Code
Description: This SID is reserved for future use.
