My original hard drive 60GB has become a little tired and i would like to
back it up to another hard drive and the restore it to my new 250GB drive.
Retaining the partition sizes. ie i have C: D: F:. This seems to be a common
task, but have failed to find the series of steps needed documented on the
web (Google and Yahoo, Microsoft help). Does anyone have any doco on this?

thanx

The usual route is via a third party tool, eg Norton Ghost / Acronis True

Allthough many hd manu have a free tool available on their sites, though I'm
unsure if such copes with multiple partitions.
Details of how are available in the various FAQ's / help on the sites

No, at least not unless you choose a very roundabout method,
and you would still have to partition the new drive before you started.
The actual MS solution is to clean install/partition, not clone.

I actually want to use backup and restore to do this. ie replace the system
disk. Not possible?
