Hello,

I had a computer that was infected with the 180 Search Assistant
spyware/adware, which proved very difficult to remove. In my frustration, I
deleted all the "Search Assistant" keys from the registry thinking that they
might be the source of the malware's persistence. Unfortunately, it wiped
out Window's search utility. Will I be able to fix it by exporting the
missing registry keys from another computer? Is there an easier way to fix
Search Assistant? TIA

Head here and scroll down... You will see a link on the page that will
direct you to one of Kelly's scripts or reg files and that will likely do it
for you. Should it work don't thank me, just thank Kelly the next time you
see her helping people in here.

Method 3: Reinstall the Search Companion Files
1. Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions.
2. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.
3. Locate the Srchasst.inf file.
4. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This reinstalls the
files that Search Companion uses.
NOTE: You may need your Windows XP CD-ROM to finish installing Search Companion. This
issue may occur again if you have Search Companion open when you connect to your ISP.
