I had a folder (named Pictures) on my desktop that I was holding about 5
or 6 folders of pictures in. I went to backup the pictures on CD and
they are totally gone. I did a restore to 5 days prior. When my
computer loaded, the folders all showed up but there is nothing in
them. Is there anything else that I can do to get these pictures
back?? I know that they were there yesterday and now all of a sudden
they are gone. These are important pictures and there is no way to
replace them. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

Hi Amber,

To try and retrieve your deleted files, you would want to use an undelete
utility. These are commonly available for free, and work on the premise that
the space the file formerly occupied has not been overwritten with new data
yet. Once that has occured, recovery requires more extensive (and expensive)
work with dedicated forensic tools by someone who knows what they are doing.

This one here works quite well for basic file recovery:

Did you look in the recycle bin ?

I will definitely try that out. It is going to work even though it has
already been a few days???
Thank you so much for your help. I hope it works.

Hi Amber,

The longer you wait, the greater the chance they will be overwritten.

I downloaded that restoration but the pictures are no where to be found.
It mostly brought up temp internet files not so much recycle bin. I
don't think that they got manually deleted for some reason. I have
like 4 other folders on my desktop at this same time and all the
folders are gone out of those too. Oh well. I will just put them on
CD right when I download them on my computer now. Thank you so much
for all your help.

Yes I looked in the recycle bin and they were not there. Nothing was
there at all.

When you use System Restore it wipes out the things stored on the
desktop. Sorry.
