Restoring Outlook Files DAT to PST

Outlook files were routinely back up to a DVD. Now that
they are needed for a restore they won't budge. The
files are DAT files. They were not exported to the
backup just copied. How do I convert the DAT file back
into a pst file and get it into Outlook?

What are the names ans sizes of the dat-files? Outlook only stores data
items in a pst-file so it appears you've backed up the wrong files.
