Restoring files on local machine

Dear All
We are running Windows 2000 service pack 4. On Friday my
PC died. The IT support man took the machine away and it
has just come back, minus all my files in 'My Documents'.

Is there a way of retrieving my files bearing in mind that
I don't think they have been deleted just removed ?

PS I can't afford any wonderful tool to do it no matter
how attractive the price is.
 
Ask the "IT support man". He would know if there is any possible recovery.
