Restoring e-mail from Vista backup

Gary

Last Fall, I made a backup of all my data and e-mail files using the Vista
Backup & Restore Center. I backed this up on an external hard drive.

Subsequently, I deleted all of that "old" e-mail from my active hard drive.

I now want to be able to find an old e-mail that was on that backup. I have
reconnected my external drive. I find the backup files there - but how do I
just get to the e-mail files so that I can view them - and find the e-mail I
want to retrieve?

Brink,

Thanks for the reply. I have reviewed the restore-backup tutorials link you
provided. I'm still a bit confused. I don't want to lose all of my current
files by restoring the old backup totally.

Do I have to restore the entire backup - perhaps to a new location on my
hard disc (if it is big enough). Can I somehow just restore the backup
emails? How do I locate where in the backup files the e-mail files are
located?

Or, do I just create a new backup of my current configuration - restore
everything to go back to the old files - and then when I am done - restore
again from my just made backup?

Obviously, I am still confused -- and I don't want to just start trying
things for fear I will overwrite my current files and lose them.

Thanks.
