a question for who may know as I can't seem to figure it out, how to restore
the defaults on files such as avi, vob, mpeg, iso etc. Since I've installed
nero, it has proclaimed itself to be the default program to open everything.
I did make sure to uncheck all options that asked that exact question, but
still all of those files have the nero icon.
I have uninstalled nero and cleared my registry and still the nero icons are
there.
What I used to do before this problem is use windows media encoder to encode
various video files (avi, vob, iso) for my smartphone, and it worked
perfectly everytime. But since nero, every time I set it up, just before
encoding it now says "missing codec required to convert" or something very
close to that.
I appreciate all who respond and thank you for your time

Since you have so many files whose defaults have changed, the easiest
way is to reinstall Windows Media Player so that it reverts back to
Windows Defaults.

The hard way is to change defaults of all files manually and I can bet
that even if you don't get tired of doing it, you are likely to make
mistakes and mess up everything beyond repair!
