Restoring an XP backup file.

My previous version of Win XP Home Edition had a backup
facility built in to it. As my hard drive began to crash,
I was able to use it to backup some of my files to a zip
disk using it. Rather than replace the hard drive, I just
bought a new computer that came win Win XP already
installed, but this newer version doesn't seem to have
the built in Backup feature my original one did. Anyone
know how I can restore my backed up data files? I can't
see the file extension, but I think it ends in .bkp

Some Comp. manufacturers dont feel it necesary to include the back up program in
their OEM installed XP.
If you still have that old CD of XP you will find it under Value Added/MSFT

Thanks. I do still have the whole stand alone XP Cd. I'll
go look there. Is there any advantage to me trying to
replace the OEM XP with the full blown version I paid a
couple of hundred dollars for when I bought it?

Not if it ain't broke. Functionality is the same.
If it is an OEM version, you can use it for a repair install using the
Product Key from the new computer so keep it in a safe place.
