Restore with data partitions?

T

I've got 3 partitions, one for OS, 2 for data. All are checked so will be
tracked for restore. But I don't think my data is included, ever. Is that
correct?
So, why do I get warned that restore won't be available on these data
partitions? Maybe for when people put OS info in more than one partition?

Thanks for help

Please let us know what backup program you use. :)

Also, does the partition that contains the OS also contain your
installed programs?

Are you talking about the Windows System Restore feature?

If so, be aware that this is *not* a full backup thing, and it does
nothing for your data. It backs up the registry and other system files
only. For that reason, it's useless to have it turned on for data
partitions.

Sorry, I must not have made it clear that I have only the OS and installed
apps on the C: drive. Only personal data is on the other partitions. I know
that data is not restored by restore but the warning given when the those are
removed is totally confusing. Thanks, Ken.

db

that’s correct.

restore will not restore
user files "only" system
files and programs.

it is unclear as to why
restore is available for
"all" partitions.

perhaps, it is because
the pagefile.sys can also
be assigned to all disks

and the .sys file is a
restorable file.
