restore user profile/desktop

I clicked on the advanced tab on (right-click-my computer)
to increase the virtual memory and found a couple of
unknown user profiles so I deleted them, however when I
logged back on as a normal user my folders/programs etc
were all gone and the desktop started from scratch
although the recycle bin is still as it was everything
else is gone.
Does anyone know how I can get it back?
