Hi
for a reason unknown my outlook 2000 pst file was truncated. from around 100
Mgs to 16 K

when I try to access it I get an error of course

my last backup was a month ago so I would like to try and get back the
existing file so I can access the last months emails

the file was in a compressed folder, on a shared disk the disk was synched
to my notebook, unfortunately the notebook recieved a synch and got the
truncated copy

So I have 2 copied both truncated on 2 different systems, neither have had
any major disk writes since the error was discovered at least one of them
should have a good copy somewhere on the disk. but the file record is munged

Outlook repair utilities simply return an error and say the file is too
short to contain valid emails

chkdsk returns a healthy disk so there is no crosslinking or anything :(

Can I restore the files back to their previous state?

I thought that perhaps rolling back the transaction log in the MFT may be
able to restore the original file, but I can find no way of doing that.

Any other clues? I have tried every disk repair undelete tool I can get my
hands on and none can do what I need.

Hi,

Take a look for outlook.bak in the following path.
C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
With this information and the version of Outlook in question, ask the
folks on the appropriate Outlook newsgroup for help in restoring it.
