Thanks for responding...think I'm in trouble! Can't remember how far into
it, I got a message that virtual memory was low and...blah blah....it's
almost done now..restoring files. I started this whole process on Friday
because I was getting error messages - spooler system - and my printer
wouldn't work. But I think I've gotten myself in deep doo doo because I've
restored a couple times to different points and nothing seems to work!
New trouble...System Restore is complete...went back to my computer...screen
is black with error message " winlogon.exe the application has failed to
start because shell32.dll was not found. Reinstalling this application may
fix this problem"
If virtual memory can't find enough disk space to operate your disk is too
full. Delete some stuff. Trying to do a restore with insufficient disk space
may have already trashed your system.

Try booting into Safe Mode or to "last known good configuration" and
see if that works.
If not then you could boot the computer to the Recovery Console,
search the hard drive for other copies of shell32.dll and copy the
most recent one to the \Windows\System32 folder.
Post a further response back here if you need more detailed
instructions regarding these items.
Good luck
