Restore Points

On 1/6 I ran my first scans with the program; no problems.
Overnight, the auto scan ran and found 3 items which were
found and fixed the previous day. I examined the details
and found that the 3 items were actually found within an
old system restore point. I hesitate to allow the program
to attempt removal, because I question the ability of this
or any program being able to extricate this spyware from
inside a restore point. If the restore point would be
damaged then maybe the fix becomes worse than the original
problem. Maybe the program should ignore examining restore
points. I would appreciate comments about this.. thanks

I examined the details

and found that the 3 items were actually found within an
old system restore point.

The restore point will not be a point of infestation unless
you select to restore the system using that restore point.
If it's an older restore point suggest going to Start, Programs,
Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.
If need be, choose the Drive that the restore points are on,
click the More Options tab. Now click the Clean Up button under System
Restore. This will flush older restore points.

Thanks for the information. But I am concerned what
happens when a user allows the Microsoft Antispyware to
"clean" the restore points.

The result would be that System Restore would not function correctly.
And, I don't *think* that it would attempt to remove files from restore.
This is only conjecture on my part.
Perhaps it's a warning that System Restore should be either flushed by
cycling it on and off or deleting all but the most recent restore points
via Diskcleanup.

Thank you Steve for the answers you have provided me. I
have come to the conclusion though that the remedy here may
be worse than the crime. I suggest that the cleaning of
restore points should be eliminated or at least
controllable as an option in the software. After all, the
software will usually run constantly and do its scan every
24 hours. If a restore is done that contains spyware, the
software will once again remove it. Otherwise, between the
time the software may clean and destroy the restore points,
some large problem could arise before the next good restore
point is made. Then a user would be in the sad situation
of having no restore points or at best one.
