restore points not saved

Sorry for asking the same question, but my HD failed
and I lost the original info.

System Restore does not save but one restore point.
It saves the most recent restore point only.
I have MORE than enuf free disk space.

The event messages indicate that it has a problem with
a partition that is not NTFS. Somebody told me how to
tell SR to forget about that partition. Now I have
forgotten the instructions.

How do you tell SR to ignore some partition?

My Dell Dimension 3700 had started to take a long time to shut down, and I
suspected a virus (even with Norton). I was instructed by Dell to do a
RESTORE (and it reset everything with the DELL restore, back to when I got
the computer) I reinstalled all my former softward... however... I noticed
this morning that the program icons have an 'arrow' attached... to each icon?
I wonder if this is normal, or if it is an enhancement by MSN since I
accepted an automatic MSN update... HELP ! Thanks Ken / San Diego
