restore icons

can someone tell me how to restore all my previous icons to my screen?
 
The first thing you can try is to right click a spot on your desktop>arrange
icons, and see if the check is placed next to 'show desktop icons'. If
there is a check but your icons are still missing, post back. And put a
check next to ' Lock web items on desktop'.
 
Or, run System Restore and roll back to the last time/date the icons were to
your liking.
