Restore from Win98 to XP

I am thinking of using XP and I have data files backed up
on a seperate drive. Can I install the software in XP and
then restore data from 98 to XP???

What kind of backup files? If these were created with the Win98 backup
tool, use Win98 to restore them to regular files first. Then install XP.
Then restore your data using whatever method is appropriate for the program
that those files belong to.

PS: Important, if you have GoBack on the Win98 system - release all local
drives from its supervision and then uninstall it before installing XP.
