I have used MS Backup/Restore successfully before. But this time I have a
problem with a restore. I did a full backup to a network drive about a month
ago and have done differential backups since. I have rebuilt my laptop and
reinstalled windows xp. I want to restore a few directories. But when I
access the bkf file I don't have rights to it. I can access the differential
backup file just fine but I need to get to the full backup which is in the
same directory. When I view rights to the file it says "You do not have
permission to view or edit the current permission settings for Backup.bkf,
but you can take ownership or change auditing settings."

When I try to open the backup file in MS Backup it will not show anything in
it.

Take ownership of the file.

How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

I got it. I logged in as administrator on the other PC and added rights. It
works now.

Thanks anyway.
