"Restore File Associations" in Visual Studio 2005

I recently installed Visual Studio 2003, after having already installed VS
2005. Unfortunately, it took over all of the file associations. There is
an option in Visual Studio 2005 to restore these associations, under Tools >
Options > Environment > General. However, this button doesn't seem to do
anything. Specifically, my SLN files were associated to VS 2003, and when I
clicked this, this association didn't change. I even tried deleting the
association and clicking this button, but it still isn't associated to VS
2005 (now it's associated to nothing).

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Why do you want to remove it?.. both will work together.. You can still open
2003 projects in that solution, is it not for you?

My problem isn't with VS 2003 itself, but the file associations. I want
them to all default to VS 2005, since this is what I use primarily.

For example, when I double-click a .SLN file to open it, it is opening in VS
2003, but I want it to open in VS 2005. Actually, it won't open in
anything, now that the association has been deleted.

But regardless, the point of this post is that the "Restore File
Associations" doesn't seem to be working properly, and I'm trying to figure
out if this is a bug, or if there is something I'm not doing correctly.

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggesting VJ, but I'm looking for an answer as to why the
"Restore File Associations" button doesn't seem to be working for me. I
understand there are various workarounds that would probably work, but I'm
more interested in understanding this particlular option and why it doesn't
seem to be working properly.

Thanks.
