Restore error

I am unable to access the system restore - it reads
The procedure entry point
RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not
be located in the dynamic link library Winsta.dll

I also am unable to do a search from the address bar from
internet explorer (this is on the adminstrator account
only). Please any help, I have done a xp repair, check
disk and defragment and nothing!

1. In My Computer, click the Tools menu -> Folder Options.
2. On the View tab, make sure to check the option "Hide extensions for
known file types".
3. Click OK.
4. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type "%windir%\inf" (Without quotation
marks) in the Open field. Click OK.
5. Locate and select the file "sr.inf". Right-click it and then click
Install.

What does this correct, the system restore or the search
in the address bar in internet explorer?

I got my restore working again, but now cannot get disk
checking feature to work and still can not search from
address bar as stated. Your explanation fixes which of
my problems. Thanks for responding!
