Restore Drive Image, Image - drive not visible?

Mark

Hi,

I'm using PowerQuest Drive Image, and I created a backup
on a second hard drive. Backup of C onto D, with high
compression, but no splitting of the image - just a
standard image backup of the entire drive.

I am able to select the backup and Drive Image restarts
the computer and begins to load (green background shows).

Then I get the error, the drive is not visible in boot-
mode. The problem therefore seems that Drive Image cannot
see / find the drive to be able to restore the backup.

I've done this hundreds of times, but never had this
problem before. I've recently installed XP SP2 - not sure
if that hides the drive for security reasons on bootup?

My drive image rescue disks do not work either as I
cannot get XP to boot from floppy, even though it's set
in the bios to boot from floppy and I have disabled the
boot from CD option. XP just continues to boot as normal.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Mark

Does Event Viewer indicate that the drive has a bad block? Can you even see
the drive from Disk Manager?

That was one of the problems with Drive Image 2002. It failed upon the
reboot (to restore the image). Create the 2 floppy set of disks from within
Drive Image (Windows). Put the 1st one in the floppy drive and reboot.
Follow the instructions.

Drive Image 7.03 (now Ghost 9.0) doesn't have this problem!
