Hi, I wanted to create a restore point on my XP Home edition PC.
I haven't done one for about six months, this was before I was going to do a
defrag and some program deletions.
Did all the right things; Start > All Programs > System tools etc., Clicked
on the System restore program, an Hourglass did one flip and that's all, the
program did not run. I've tried alsorts to get it to run, this is the first
time it's failed. I even searched for the file - rstrui.exe - clicked on it
and tried to "Open" it, same thing - nothing.
Help. TIA, colin D.

Please let me know if someone gives you an answer as too why restore isnt
working.. My computer runs really slow, and I tried to go back to last week
and once it went thru all of the steps it said it didnt do anything because
it couldnt go back to that day.. so I tried 7 different days going all the
way back into december, with the same results.. sounds like windows need to
do some kind of "fix-it".. i normally have no problem, but I also have my
system restore turned on so if I forget to do a restore point the system has
recent ones to go to...

Guys, if your PC runs slow, please check this link for tips and tricks.
System restore is something that should be basically disabled
because it chews-up system resources and it does not work as it
should...From the article on the MS site it makes it very clear that you
have to have every piece of software XP compliant....come on....give us
a break. it works provided....

Here I found this site very helpful, especially if you want to tweak
your PC for optimum performance:
