Hi, I am running Windows XP SP 3 and Office Enterprise 2007. I recently
reinstalled Windows and realized that I forgot to backup my information. I
thought I should be looking for a .pst file so I reinstalled Office and did a
search for the .pst file so I know where I should put it when I recover the
old one.

I recovered a .pst file and placed it in the
According to slipstick.com, it should be in the C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

When I placed the old .pst file in the folder and opened Outlook I got a
message saying that it was not a personal files folder.

Please help. Thank you.

You should not place a PST file in the default location because there's a
good chance you'd overwrite another PST file and corrupt your profile.
If in fact you have a valid PST file, you would copy it anywhere else, then
open it in Outlook using File > Open > Outlook Data file..
I suspect you don't even have a valid backup file, however.

Thank you. I don't have a valid backup file, but I was able to recover the
original .pst file.
