Hi, after installing the vista updates on friday, my computer will not let me
log on and tells me an unauthorised change has occured. To start with i
managed to do a system restore and not allow the updates to reinstall.
However, for some reason they did. I thought nothing of it and tried to go
through system restore, but it will not allow me to go back far enough to the
system restore i had been using. All the more rcent ones will not work
properly and i can only get to my desk top via safe mode. please Help!!

hi raj, yes i get to the user prompt, enter my password and then it tries to
log in but it comes up that an unauthorised change was made to windows. Like
i said, when i was able to restore before last fridays updates it was ok, but
since then i have had to restore after updates decided to install and now the
option of rstoreing to that day have gone and all the other restore points
have the same outcome, that i cant log in.

Boot from your Windows Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the
setup screen, select 'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows

hi andrew, tried the system repair from f8 on start up but didnt seem to
work. When we bought our computer we didnt get a vista disk, it was pre
installed and when we first started up the program made us a back up while it
loaded for the 1st time. Would this disk have another system repair or would
it most likely just re install from scratch? many thanks

The recovery tools are available as far as I am aware on the Windows Vista
DVD. I am don't know about the reinstall choice just yet, do you know
anybody that owns a Windows Vista disk you could use for the repair?

The only disk i have is a clean re install back up disk, I was never supplied
from store with a vista disk. The only other person i know with vista bought
from the same shop, so didnt get one either.
