restarting xp contineously

restarting xp contineously, i.e., i started my system and
it is continuesly restarting what to do,

if i press f8 i am getting the menu list but either
selecting last known good conf. or any other options also
it is not starting up.


pl help me out in this regard

If you can not get to Safe Mode or Last Known Good..., a Repair
Installation may be required:
Repair Installation:

Windows Updates will need to be reinstalled.
Data should be safe, back-up important data just in case.
Install Service Pack first and by itself.
Then install ALL Critical Updates no more than 4 at a time,

Disconnect the network/modem cable before starting repair and do NOT
reconnect the cable until repair is completed and firewall is
installed/enabled.
