Here is what I came up with using 3087 in E5
and =DATE(LEFT(E5)+2000,1,RIGHT(E5,3))

Formula resulted in 3/28/2003

you should try to stay in the same thread. I think Jason already
provided an explanation: 3/28/2003 is the 87th day of 2003. Or do you
have any further questions regarding this formula??
