Resolving a netbios name error

Here’s my problem. Member server running 2000 Advanced Server with sp3. When mapping via netbios name you get an error indicating the network drive can not be found. Mapping via ip address and you have no problem. You can ping the netbios name and it returns the correct ip address. It appears it is having difficulty resolving the server name. This is my app server so I have a plethora of users mapped to shares and it is causing me one big fat headache. Any suggestions?

Are the clients local or remote? Are you running Wins servers?
