RESOLVED Re: Firewire (1394) problem

Thanks to everyone who replied with ideas, but in the end the only
thing that worked was to re-install XP on top of the existing
installation. Doing so was relatively quick and easy, and the Canon
DV was installed without incident afterwards. I wish that I had tried
this solution earlier rather than spending so much time researching
and trying other fixes.

Glad to hear you fixed it. If possible (or applicable), next time
please post this as a reply to the original post so it is easier for us
to see what you are talking about ;)
