Resolution problem

Ok so i have a mobility radeon 9000 in my ibm laptop...all specs say
that my screen resolution should be up to like 1400x1050, but i can
only switch it up to 1024x768 and im really tired of it...ive tried
installing modded drivers and still could not get a larger resolution?

does anyone have a solution to my resolution problem?

Since IBM made more than one laptop it would be helpful to post the
model (i.e. T41p) and the exact model no (i.e. 2176-447).

Which spec? Are you aware that the same model (i.e. T40) is sold with
different displays which have different resolutions? It's possible that
the "spec" you read says that your notebook model is available with
displays up to 1400x1050 and not that _your_ specific notebook does
1400x1050...

Either a defect or your display doesn't support more than 1024x768. Hard
to say with that sparse informations...

Well its an R51 and on the bottom it says its an 1830-DD2 model, but
system diagnostics repoort it as 1836-BCU...

either way, both online say it should have the higher resolution...

You could try changing the monitor device to a generic one, as the .inf
file that is loaded by XP now probably contains a maximum resolution
value. Fiddling with this you ought to be able to get a large range or
resolutions available to you in display properties, you can creep the
slider along and try them. 1400 x 1050 is a 16:9 type of resolution and
you may not want to go that high? 1280 x 1024 perhaps? It may not
work though, 14/15 inch LCD screens tend to run at 1024 x 768. As the
Benjamin said, look at the specs?? You will only get a really sharp
image at the intended native res of the display and usually can go only
smaller. AFAIK if you go to a higher resolution than native, the thing
goes blank.

This is strange. The ID on the case label and in the mainboard should be
identical.

Indeed, as the spec and download site confirms:

Try to completely(!) remove your old drivers and all the modifications
you did and install the latest IBM/Lenovo drivers from one of the links
above.

Have you installed the monitor inf file (often wrongly called "monitor
driver") for this display?
