I'm using W2K server on 4 GB partition, due to extensive use the drive size is to small, is there a work around to increase the 4GB to 8GB without reinstalling the server?

I'm assuming that the actual physical disk has enough space to allow you to
expand the partition size.
If this is the case, have a look at a program called 'Partition Magic'. This
allows you to change partition sizes 'on the fly'. You will need to check
that it works on 2000Server though as I've never done that...

Cheers,

AFAIK, the standard version of PartitionMagic does not work on
servers. You would have to buy the server version, which is quite
expensive.

However, Acronis PartitionExpert will do it. I have used the
product extensively.

You might be able to extend the system/boot partition if it still is on a
basic disk.

You will need free contiguous space after C: in order to extend it. In
other words, you would need to delete the partition after C:, if you have
any.

Use diskpart.exe from "safe mode with command prompt" to extend
the partition.

This is normally not recommended on the system partition, but usually works
anyway. Also see this MS Knowledge Base article:

Another option is to perform an upgrade installation, as this article
describes:

Volume Manager from Powerquest, or other third party utilities, might also
be an option.

Best regards
