I am using Win XP Home and have now lost the ability to "resize pictures"
for emailing!
How can I get that facility back again?
TIA

Size is determined by content of the photo and the format in which it is
saved.. try resaving in 'jpg' format..

when i right click on selected picture files I used to be given the option
to resize or use original size before emailing. now it is 'gone"

Used to be given the option in which program?.. do you still have the
program?.. XP is an operating system, as was Win 98.. any program that you
used in Win 98 would need to be reloaded into XP for the same features to be
available..

if you are refering to the image resizer powertoy, just reinstall it, that
should fix the problem.

BUT, try this first: from a command line enter this command:

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

that should re-registry the XP Picture and Fax Viewer, which is necessary
for the resizer to work. Many (older) tweaks recommend disabling this
default viewer, and folks just go ahead and do it. If you have SP1, this
viewer is not as obnoxious as it was, you don't need to disable it
anymore. if after re-registering it you find that clicking on a jpg opens
the viewer instead of your preferred tool (irfanview I hope), just go into
your tool and have it reclaim jpg's as its own (options menu, file
extensions).

Thank you.

Thank you Gordon that did the trick - not sure why or how I lost the ability
to start with. I never knowingly disabled the XP Picture and Fax Viewer.
