resetting passwords!

New to Active Directory. Is there way to reset passwords from my desk
without being on a Server. Before in Win NT you could drag a copy of User
Manager to your desktop and reset passwords if need be. Is there anything
like that in AD

Hello news.microsoft.com,

Install the adminpak.msi to your client. You will find it on the server disc
and also in the SP files. So try to find the last one from SP4.

Best regards

Well u need to copy the adminpak.msi from the server (C:\WINDOWS
\SYSTEM32)and paste it to the system32 folder in your desired desktop
system. once copied, execute that file after restart you'll see the
administrative tools has active directory services. use them and have
fun...

You can also use RDP to logo onto the server and administer it remotely.
I prefer this over installing multiple consoles on my workstation...

The adminpak has multiple tools for you to help manage your AD.

A list of specifics within this msi is available at:

I much prefer consoles on my workstation to connecting to servers to do
work that can be done on my workstation. There are security and
efficiency reasons behind this. The only time I have really seen where
this isn't an option is when you manage multiple Exchange Orgs because
Exchange requires your machine to be in the forest you manage because
the Exchange Dev folks were knuckleheads.
