Hi all

First, sorry for cross posting in two groups, if it is not good.

I am using Windows XP home edition [Japanese]
But I do not know Japanese, I struggle and learn and do.

Recently I did some modifications in the IME-Toolbar properties,
after that things gone very wrong, I could not able to input any
Japanese characters { ie After Alt + Japanese Key Hiragana is not
working}
I was trying various settings for more than a week now, but with no
luck.

I would like to go back to defalut options.
but do not know how to do that.
Could not able to find Reset all to defualt values Button :- (

Any help will be appreciated.

I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year.

Lot of thanks in advance

Raj

Try clicking the $BF~NOJ}<0%b!<%I(B icon on the language bar (it looks
like a red circle with a weird squiggle next to it). Select
$B%W%m%Q%F%#!<(B(R) and on the first tab click $BI8=`$KLa$9(B(R).

I'm not using _Japanese_ XP Home but I think that would be
the same. Good luck.

If that doesn't work try being a little clearer about what
isn't working (and how it isn't working).

Thanks a lot, for your help.
But it did not solve my problem.

In the last mail, I was not clear about my problem.
$B#G#O#M#E#N#E!*(B my apologies

Generally what I do is,
Defualt will be english typing, so when I type alt + kanji key the
romaji letters changes to
hiragana automatically like English ra to Hiragana "ra" when I press
space then there will be an window with many options like hiragana,
katakana, halfwidth full width and kanjis.
[also there is will be an underline]

But nowadays.
1. always there is an underline. before and after alt+kanji key
2. Whatever I type always remains as english letters.
3. conversion of words does not occur when I press the space key.
4. but when I press any function key bet f6 -f9 and press spacebar or
arrow keys then I get many options but all are romaji only. lets say I
type ki, I will see ki, $B#k#i!$#K#I!$(BKI,Ki, all romaji$B!?(Benglish
letters, hiraggana, katakana, kanji [tree] are no where to be seen.

It is me who changed the options [damn my curiosity]
but somehow I forgot how to go back to normal eng/Japanese typing

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If my expalnation is less than what is required it is becuase of the
reason that I am a newbie in NG,
not becuase of my lack sincerity in posting.

I have 100% Japanese pc but I could not able to type a single Japanese
word.
It is frustating to the extreme.

Aha. That's starting to sound a little familiar.

It sounds like you are stuck in $BH>3Q1Q?t(B mode (although as my keyboard
doesn't _have_ a 'kanji key' it's a bit hard to be sure what's going on).

Your old default would have been $BD>@\F~NO(B (for English).
Do you have a $BF~NO%b!<%I(B icon showing on your language bar?
Can you click it to select $B$R$i$,$J(B(H) ?

The default for (non-Japanese) Windows XP is
<ctrl>+<capslock> = $B$R$i$,$J(B
3. conversion of words does not occur when I press the space key.
4. but when I press any function key bet f6 -f9 and press spacebar or
arrow keys then I get many options but all are romaji only. lets say I

Back to the properties menu - as well as the $BI8=`$KLa$9(B button
you can also try setting the $B%-!<@_Dj(B to Microsoft IME from
(as it probably is now) $B%f!<%6Dj5A(B.

Also are you using $B%J%A%e%i%k!&%$%s%W%C%H(B or IME $B%9%?%s%@!<%I(B ?
(I'm afraid I only know about the IME $B%9%?%s%@!<%I(B option).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have 100% Japanese pc but I could not able to type a single Japanese
word.

If it _wasn't_ a Japanese PC I would recommend uninstalling Japanese
input support (you'd have to add another input language first) and
then re-installing it.

However I'm dubious as to whether you can uninstall Japanese text
input from Japanese Windows XP (although you can uninstall English
text input from English Windows XP).

$B$I$b$"$j$,$H$4$5$$$^$9!#(B

$B:#F|K\8lF~NO$G$-$^$7$?!#(B

$B%i%8%c(B

I could able to input Japanese and English now,
Though the method has changed a little,
(I need to use <fn> key instead of <alt> key)
anyway I am able to get 100% functionlity of the IME.

I can't Thank you enough for this.
