Philip, are you referring to the automatic update feature.If so then you can
enable notification by doing the following
1.. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2.. Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click Notify me before
downloading any updates and notify me again before installing them on my
computer.
Relating to the instructions offered by Menon below, when I go to the
"automatic updates tab, the choices that should be available are blacked
out. Needless to say, I do not receive automated updates. Does anyone have
a suggestion as to what corrective action is needed to correct this
aggravation so that the instructions in step 2 (below) can be completed.
