Resets First Load After Install

I have tried upgrading my current windows (WinXp MCE 2004) to WinXP MCE 2005
although I have mosted this to both an MCE and a non MCE group since I don;t
think the fact that this is an MCE edition of windows should effect
anything.

I have also tried to do a fresh install and get the same problem which is:

After new installation the first time the computer boots up it gets almost
to the end of the progress bar on the B&W only screen.

It the resets.

When the machine restarts it gives me the option of loading in safe mode
which I accept. It then lists all the drivers as they are loaded. It finally
pauses as it asks me if I want to skip a347bus.sys. I leave it to get loaded
and thats when the machine resets itself again. I cannot even get into safe
mode.

Since my machine ran perfectly before on XP Pro SP2 I am unsure why it will
no longer work. When I restore this original OS (from a Ghost image) it
carrys on working just fine.

For reference I have:

Athlon XP1600+
Abit KG7 Mobo
512Mb Generic PC2700 RAM
Abit Siluro Geforce MX 400 Graphics Card.

TIA!

Based on a similar problem another MVP had, I'll hazard a guess that your
2005 was from a downloaded ISO image? If so, I'd recommend you download and
burn another copy...you may have gotten a bad byte somewhere...

Assuming your media is not to blame, I'll hazard a few guesses. Are there
any peripherals like flash card readers or zip drives installed while you
are attempting to install the OS? Are you sure your RAM is OK? If you have
two sticks, remove one to see if that helps.

No RAID array but I do have a memory card reader (USB). I always have it
attached including every other time I have installed other versions of XP.
There was a message during setup about an unsupported storge device or
something. Maybe I'll try with that unplugged!
