requirements for HDTV Monitors for Media Center

I originally had my media center connected to my home TV with s-video and
video/ audio cords, however, text was extremely difficult to read. I went
back to a standard computer monitor.

I plan on purchasing a HDTV and would like to run my media center through
it. what requirements should I look for so that I can watch TV and still
read email and web text?
