I have a client who uses Messenger 4.7 and got a message
telling this user that he/she needed to upgrade
MSN/Windows Messenger in order to continue with the
service. I can't really remember the whole message, but
do you need to upgrade?

If so, why? This client personally would like to use the
current version.

Greetings Sam,

Older versions of Messenger clients have an older method of authentication, which has a weak
form of encryption which soon will no longer be supported as a method to login.

If you send me an e-mail, I can send you a version of Windows Messenger 4.7 that uses the
new[er] encryption, so your client can continue using Windows Messenger 4.7.

Jonathan Kay, I'll have the client send you an email so
he can download it and install the new version. So be
expecting this client's email here soon -- Eric's is this
person.
